About SEAI
A nonprofit at the intersection of body, art, and healing.
A 501(c)(3) bringing cutting-edge body-based psychotherapies and trauma-healing education to Central and Southeast Europe — with a vision to break, and end, the perpetual cycles of violence in the region.
01Our Mission
Making SE accessible to those most impacted by trauma.
Our core mission is to make the Somatic Experiencing® approach accessible to individuals impacted by trauma — including women, children, and men. SE is a body-centered method that works with the physical, emotional, and physiological effects of trauma and stress-related conditions.
We offer comprehensive training programs that equip professionals with practical, effective skills, which they bring into fields such as mental health, education, and healthcare — expanding the reach of trauma-informed support within their communities.
SEAI is dedicated to bringing Somatic Experiencing and expressive arts to Central and Southeast Europe and other regions impacted by civil conflict, collective trauma, and climate-related events. In a time of ongoing global challenges, we aim to cultivate resilience and support the healing and empowerment of individuals and communities, including immigrants and refugees worldwide.

A word from the founder of SE
Until we find peace within ourselves we can not achieve peace and collaboration with others.
Peter A. Levine, PhD — originator of Somatic Experiencing® — has personally endorsed SEAI's mission to bring SE education to the culturally diverse region of Southeast Europe, where peace and healing carry global significance.

03What guides us
Our commitments.
Cultural humility
We arrive as guests. We listen first, design with local practitioners, and adapt to context.
Scientific grounding
Our work is rooted in the SE biophysiological model, Polyvagal Theory, and the SIBAM framework.
Accessibility
Scholarships, sliding scales, and translated materials open the doors that finances and language close.
Long-term presence
Trauma healing is a years-long endeavor. We commit to programs, not pop-ups.
