Level 01 — Beginner
Where the work begins.
Develop foundational knowledge and skills in the SE biophysiological model for the resolution of trauma.
Format
Three 6-day live modules, typically delivered over 12–18 months.
Prerequisites
Open to mental-health, healthcare, and helping professionals. Application required.
The Beginner level is the entry point into the SE curriculum. Across three 6-day in-person modules, you'll build a working understanding of the autonomic nervous system, learn to track sensation as a clinical tool, and practice the titration and pendulation techniques that make SE distinct.
You will learn to
- Understand how traumatic stress affects the autonomic nervous system (ANS)
- Learn and practice tracking sensations to access ANS responses
- Explore the neurophysiology of threat responses — fight, flight, freeze, and recovery
- Build skills to support completion of survival responses
- Apply titration techniques for safe trauma integration
- Gain insight into Polyvagal Theory and the SIBAM model
- Recognize and work with trauma-related patterns and responses
- Support clients in establishing boundaries and stabilizing reactions
- Develop brief, effective interventions for trauma symptoms
- Integrate SE into professional practice, including the appropriate use of touch
